Through voluntary work thousands of young brigadiers contributed to the development of the country and actively helped to realize key infrastructure projects, such as highways, railways, bridges, tunnels, factories, residential buildings, schools, hospitals, parks, etc. One of such was \u0160amac-Sarajevo railway build in 1947 in just seven months. The young Yugoslavians had support of many brigadiers from Italy, the UK, Greece, France, Denmark, Sweden, Palestine, etc. In the 90\u2019 war the railway was damaged, and the last train \u0160amac &#8211; Sarajevo rode in 2011. Today it is often used as a path to the promised future in Europe for people on the move.<\/p>\n<p><strong>about the author<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nika Autor is a visual artist and film-maker whose work, spanning experimental videos, documentaries, photography, and installations, focuses on invisibilities in history and current affairs such as migration, workers&#8217; rights, and memory politics.
