Trapped in a dim, hopeless world, a forty-something-year old Amir lives a dull, routine life day by day. He has lost his mother a long time ago and has no one but a father in an asylum. He doesn’t think of anything else than an Afghan girl, Yasna, his childhood sweetheart. He is trying to get in touch with her, but he finds out that his old love was kindnapped by smugglers. During his search for Yasna, the film reveals stories and destinies of Afghan women in Iran.

Born in 1986 in Tabriz, Navid Esmaeili has been active as actor and director on the stage, in the movies and in the TV productions. Despite his childhood love for theatre and performance, he was always prohibited by his traditional family to pursue his love. When he was 17, he married Saeedeh Hamidi. Two years later, he decided to enter the world of cinema and study it academically and at last, graduated in Directing. Since then, he has worked continuously with Hamidi as producer / production manager of his different ventures. In 2021, Esmaeili made his debut feature film, FLOOR 1.5 – which is not shown anywhere yet. PAKOL is his second feature length film.
